Upcoming Webinar | Improving Child and Youth Mental Health: Federal, State, and Local Opportunities
Featuring a presentation by Grace Kolliesuah, Chief, Child Behavioral Health Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services
THIS WEDNESDAY, August 30, 2023 – 3:00-4:30 p.m.
Presented by the NASEM Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education
The United States in recent years has seen an unprecedented increase in mental health problems for children and youth. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 1 in 5 U.S. children ages 3–17 has a mental, emotional, behavioral, or developmental disorder. Last year, the Surgeon General issued an advisory on the youth mental health crisis, calling it the “crisis of our time.” Given the continued urgency of this issue, the summer 2023 webinar series for the Hauser Policy Impact Fund will focus on children and youth mental health.
Drawing on the work of the Board on Children, Youth, and Families, the first webinar will highlight our 2019 report, Fostering Healthy Mental, Emotional, and Behavioral Development in Children and Youth: A National Agenda. Speakers will include:
Thomas Boat, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital (moderator)
Nathaniel Counts, Senior Policy Advisor for Mental Health to the Health Commissioner of New York City
Grace Kolliesuah, Chief, Child Behavioral Health Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services
Ramesh Raghavan, Professor, New York University Silver School of Social Work
